Gigabyte motherboards receive Ryzen 9000 support with AGESA 1.2.0.0A

Gigabyte has confirmed full support for the new Ryzen 9000 series processors on its AM5 600 series motherboards. The information comes with a new BIOS update, to its beta version AGESA 1.2.0.0A, which supports the features of Zen 5-based CPUs.

The AM5 socket is physically compatible with the new Ryzen line of processors. As such, many motherboards with this socket will support the products at some level, and Gigabyte itself had already made available a BIOS version with “compatibility to connect” the PC with Ryzen 9000.

AGESA version 1.2.0.0A, however, “allows users to take advantage of the full potential of these new-generation processors,” according to Gigabyte. That means support for the following features:

• Curve Shaper (new undervolt feature)
• Memory overclocking in use (no reboot required)
• Optimized memory performance profiles

As mentioned, this is a beta version of the BIOS, available to early adopters who will be rushing to get their hands on a Ryzen 9000 when it launches. According to VideoCardz, the first non-beta release for AGESA will be version 1.2.0.1, which is not yet available on any board.

Gigabyte joins other manufacturers offering support for new processors before launch, such as MSI and ASUS.

Only 600 series supports Ryzen 9000 at debut

Interestingly, only 600 series motherboard models will support the new Ryzen CPU line at launch. In the case of Gigabyte, the manufacturer emphasizes that the BIOS update can be done on X670, B650 and A620 motherboards.

Meanwhile, the 800 series motherboards are expected to arrive after the Ryzen 9000 series debuts – even after the slight delay the processors received. The components were sent out in mid-August, but rumors suggest the new motherboards won’t appear until September.

However, it is interesting to keep an eye on future Ryzen 9000 motherboards, as they should offer some exclusive features, according to unofficial information.
