Gigabyte motherboard PCIe slot supports 58-kilogram GPUs

Gigabyte has made its new B650E AORUS PRO X USB4 motherboard available for testing, with a set of specifications and features that are also expected from the future “AMD X870”. However, one of the most surprising points is its PCIe 5.0 slot, which supports the maximum weight of GPUs of up to 58 kilos.

This 5×16 PCIe slot is equipped with Ultra Durable PCIe Armor – a special backplate that supports connectors up to the weight mentioned above. Although it is unlikely that any manufacturer will produce a GPU this heavy, at least they will be prepared for the most extreme scenario possible. It uses the same interface as the Z790 AORUS PRO X.

Furthermore, other new features that Gigabyte brings to the B650E AORUS PRO users can see their PC information in real time on displays without the use of an external GPU.

The motherboard also features the M.2 EZ-Latch Click and EZ-Latch Plus systems, the latter being aimed at video cards – essential for those looking for more convenience in making changes to their GPUs.

Gigabyte is expected to take its B650E AORUS PRO X USB4 to Computex 2024, presenting its configurations and details officially within the event. However, it is important to remember that they will hardly show the PCIe 5.0 slot supporting 58 kilos there – so don’t expect to see tests of this kind in their presentation.

Gigabyte is getting ahead of itself

The manufacturer appears to be skipping the “X700” line and bringing “X800” motherboards with the X870 and X850 – following Intel’s numbering, getting closer to its rival to bring greater competition this year. The same seems to happen with its “Strix Point” CPUs, which will be launched as the Ryzen AI 300 – bringing a higher number than the Intel Core Ultra 200.
