Gigabyte launches new version of the Radeon Pro W7800 with 48GB of memory

Gigabyte announced today, November 15th, its new Radeon Pro W7800 AI TOP professional GPU. What is most striking about the product is that it appears to confirm the existence of a new Radeon Pro variant, before any announcement from AMD.

The original Radeon Pro W7800 has 32GB of GDDR6 memory, with the more advanced Radeon Pro W7900 model going for 48GB. The new version of the W7800 announced by Gigabyte, however, has the same capacity as the more expensive model: 48GB of GDDR6 memory.

Not only that, but the Radeon Pro W7800 AI TOP also maintains the 384-bit bus, for a total memory bandwidth of 864GB/s, just like the Pro W7900 model. Gigabyte also highlights the new capacity in its announcement:

“With support for up to four graphics cards, you can achieve a maximum memory capacity of 192GB, offering significant advantages for training large AI models.”

It is worth remembering that this type of GPU is aimed at professional use, in clusters. That’s why they have the same shape, with a blower-style fan and dual-slot profile.

The power consumption of a GPU is important for any user, but especially for those who intend to set up clusters with the cards. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to the fact that the Radeon Pro W7800 with more memory also consumes more energy.
