Yesterday several laptop reviews with GeForce RTX 5090 were published showing 160W limited TGP on Razer systems. The performance is less than the maximum possible and the error was perceived by those who read the full description of the product.

The error shows that laptop manufacturers are struggling to publicize complete power specifications for the GeForce RTX 50 series. Something that was already evident when laptops were announced in CES. Since then, some things have changed and now most companies disclose this information.

In turn, the German Computerbase website contacted Nvidia to verify that there were changes in the company’s effort by greater clarity in GPUS specifications. In response, NVIDIA has ensured that it works with partners so that this information is clearly visible to consumers.

However, it is evident that a greater effort is required.

The problem is not from today, having arisen four years ago, when laptop manufacturers avoided sharing these details. Lack of transparency resulted in gamers with below -expected performance, even when they had tip GPUs.

In some cases, most basic GPUS models exceeded the most advanced due to power limitation.

The initial failure could even be from laptop manufacturers for not informing the details. Although, The real reason for the confusion in the information was Nvidia’s decision to eliminate Max-Q (energy efficiency) and Max-P (total power) labels from GPUs.

Under media pressure, NVIDIA has changed its policy and introduced a rule that requires the complete list of GPUS specifications. Some companies are doing this correctly (including TGP, Dynamic Boost and Clocks), while others only mention TGP.

In the various laptop reviews with GeForce RTX 5090 published yesterday, only two systems were analyzed: Razer and MSI. Many of the reviews focused on Razer laptops, showing the RTX 5090 with 160W limited TGP. Performance is less than as much as possible. However, the error was only perceived by those who read the full description of the product.
