NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5090 could come with 24GB of GDD7 memoryfinally bringing more VRAM compared to its predecessor and a much higher memory bandwidth.
The one who reported it was Golden Pig Upgrade, via Weibo, which reported that the GeForce RTX 5090 notebook GPU will reportedly be the first GPU to get 3GB GDDR7 memory modules.
In short, with the change, memory capacity can be increased to 24 GB while maintaining the same 256-bit memory bus. There are 8 GB more VRAM compared to the 16 GB of the RTX 5090 for notebooksbringing the GPU to the level of the desktop RTX 4090 in terms of memory capacity.
While this amount of VRAM may not be completely beneficial in all games, it can make a difference in modern memory-intensive titles at 4K resolution, especially when mods are implemented.

The GeForce RTX 5090 is the flagship GPU in the Blackwell series, and the notebook variant will also be the fastest in the lineup. At the moment, no other GPU is expected to feature 3GB GDDR7 memory modules, which makes the RTX 5090 for notebooks the first and only in the lineup to get this memory configuration.
And although official specifications have not yet been announced, Recent leaks have revealed that it will use 28Gbps GDDR7 memory, which is drastically faster than the 18Gbps GDDR6 memory used in the RTX 4090.
There is expectation that the RTX 5090 for notebooks also uses the GB203 die instead of GB202, which is NVIDIA’s usual route for these versions.
Compared to the desktop version, which should have 21,760 CUDA cores, the notebook variant should come with half as many, with around 10,752 cores. With a maximum TDP of 175W, it will be a little more power-demanding than its predecessor.
The RTX 5090 GPU has previously been seen in several upcoming ASUS ROG notebooks, along with other RTX 50 series SKUs. More information is expected to be released starting next week with CES 2025.
