The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 and other Blackwell-generation GPUs are still surrounded by rumors, with a new one pointing to the base clock of the next big graphics card. According to Panzerlied on the Chiphell Forum, its configuration will be close to 2.9 GHz.
The number is impressive, considering that the current RTX 4090 reaches 2.2 GHz in base clock, representing a 30% increase over the new generation. Considering that many models allow overclocking, it will not be difficult to see it breaking the 3 GHz barrier.
Although it is yet another rumor, among several that continue to be spread, the data about the GeForce RTX 5090 by Panzerlied follows other leaks that came from the same user about the GeForce RTX 50 “Blackwell” GPUs.
As for NVIDIA, no information has been confirmed yet. During Computex 2024, Jensen Huang only commented that he is looking forward to talking about the next graphics cards and that they will be “something” within the tech industry. In addition, he also stated that his GPUs will have a new line every year.

GeForce RTX 5090 Information
It is important to mention that some models of the GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, under favorable power and thermal conditions, already reach 3 GHz – which leads us to believe that the GeForce RTX 5090 can reach an even more impressive frequency in boost clock.
The new graphics card is expected to feature a Blackwell GB202 GPU, as well as 192 SM and a 448-bit bus design (even though the chip supports 512-bit). The leaks also indicate that the memory used will be GDDR7 with 28 GB.
One interesting aspect is that all of this data may come from NVIDIA samples, and does not represent what the consumer will see in the final product. In other words, much can still be improved – as well as “cut”, depending on its performance in the tests being carried out.
Although the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU is expected to launch in late 2024, as is the case with the RTX 5080, some leaked information reveals that its arrival date has been moved to early 2025. The manufacturer has yet to officially comment on dates and estimates.
Comparison between RTX 5090 and RTX 4090
