G.Skill announced this week two new DDR5 memories kits focused on high capacity. In both cases we have 64GB modules, with the first bringing four units to a total of 256GB and the second option with two “combs”, totaling 128GB.
The main highlight of the new components is to offer high performance with all this capacity. The 256GB kit is aimed at the AM5 platform (AMD), and can reach up to 6,000mt/s speed while maintaining a latency CL36-44-44.
The 128GB option is also available on the platform, slightly decreasing latency to CL32. Obviously, these are numbers achieved with the AMD Expo profile for overclock.
The Intel platform receives only 128GB kits, but reaches more performance. G.Skill’s new memories reach 6,400mt/s, maintaining the latency CL36-44-44.
G.Skill will offer the kits on different lines
The manufacturer has not yet disclosed prices for its new memories kits. Part of the reason is that they will be offered in different from their lines, which should have variations in value.
Interested users will find G.Skill’s new modules on the Trident Z5 RGB, Trident Z5 Neo RGB and Flare X5 lines. However, we have no date for its availability yet, and we also do not know if all versions will hit stores at the same time.
New memories seek balance in performance
In April this year G.Skill released a 256GB memories kit also reaching 6,000mt/s, but with less latency, only Cl32. The following month, the same company launched a set of 128GB reaching 8,400mt/s, but sacrificing latency for Cl44.

The models of the time seem to seek a balance between capacity, frequency and latency, for users seeking more advanced PCs. So it may be that this scale ends up hanging to the price side, but we will know more when the finished products start to appear on the shelves.
