Kingston has decided to enter the high performance SSD segment with its new Fury Renegade G5 line. These are the first drives at the manufacturer’s PCIE Gen5 interface, and they are already competing with some of the most advanced options we have currently available.
Kingston’s promise to the Fury Renegade G5 is of speeds reaching 14,800MB/s in reading, the same number that Samsung seeks to offer with its SSD 9100 Pro. In recording, however, Kingston managed to get ahead, reaching 14,000mb/s, while Samsung’s rival is 13.400MB/s.
The numbers are still slightly below the new S5, from Chinese manufacturer Uni Flash Memory. However, the Fury Renegade G5 line does better in 4K random performance, which is most important in game performance. The new Kingston SSDs reach up to 2,200k IOPs, both in reading and in recording, while the S5 drives are nothing more than 1,800k.
Of course, performance varies slightly depending on the drive capacity. At first, Kingston will offer three storage options, which you check below with the estimates of your performances:
- 1.024GB: Up to 14.200mb/s in reading | 11,000MB/S In Recording
- 2,048GB: Up to 14.700mb/s in reading | 14,000mb/s in recording
- 4,096GB: Up to 14,800mb/s in reading | 14,000mb/s in recording
Kingston has not yet revealed the price of the Fury Renegade G5 line
Although Videocardz has almost all the information about Kingston’s new PCIE 5.0 line, the price and release date was missing. As always, it is the information that the companies keep for the last minute. With so many details about the drives already revealed, however, it should not take long for the values to be disclosed.

It is worth mentioning that the Fury Renegade G5 line is made with Nand 3D TLC components, and use 6NM SM2508 controller. According to Kingston, technology is sufficient for better thermal management, and drives accompany low energy DDR4 cache. The 4TB model operation is evaluated for a maximum consumption of 9.5W.
