Japanese company Fujitsu announced a new partnership with Supermicro to create server and data center solutions. The companies will work together on liquid-cooled systems for HPC and generative AI, as well as a new platform powered by MONAKA.

Unlike a famous Dragon Ball character, Fujitsu’s MONAKA is an ARM-based server processor scheduled for release in 2027. The company first announced the product last year, and will now work with Supermicro to offer a component driven platform.

“Supermicro is excited to collaborate with Fujitsu to offer cutting-edge servers and solutions that are high performance, energy efficient and cost-optimized,” said Charles Liang, CEO of Supermicro. “These systems will be optimized to support a wide range of work in AI, HPC, cloud and edge environments. The two companies will focus on ‘green’ IT designs with energy-saving architectures, such as a scalable PnP rack with liquid cooling, to minimize the environmental impact of the technology.”

Liquid cooling, in fact, is a focus of publicity from companies, which highlight the solution as a good alternative to reduce the environmental impact of the rapid advancement of AI and its needs.

Fujitsu promises a lot of efficiency in its 2nm CPU

Fujitsu took advantage of the partnership announcement to highlight that MONAKA will have “excellent performance and energy efficiency”. The processor is based on ARM and will be manufactured using the advanced 2nm process. But we will only see if the company’s promises will be fulfilled in 2027, when its launch will take place.
