FSR Redstone features will vary by game, AMD confirms

AMD is preparing to launch FSR Redstone, the next major advancement in FSR technology. The new feature consists of a package of resources for graphical and performance improvements in games, but not every title will support all technologies, as the company confirmed in a recent post.

It is interesting to remember that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 arrived on November 14th, bringing only one feature from FSR Redstone, Ray Regeneration. However, the game came out well before the technologies’ official debut date, which takes place on December 10th, so it could be considered that this is why it didn’t bring the complete package. But now AMD confirms that the situation should repeat itself in more games.

The image above was posted on the official AMD Gaming account. In the famous “fine print”, almost transparent, we can read the words “availability of resources varies by title”.

This is not surprising, since the implementation of technologies also depends on the optimization of games by developers. But it’s important to have confirmation to be aware of what specific features a game will offer when it highlights being compatible with FSR Redstone.

AMD reiterates that FSR Redstone is only for Radeon RX 9000 GPUs

AMD’s post promoting the approaching arrival of FSR Redstone features also serves as a reminder that the technologies will only be available on the company’s Radeon RX 9000 generation of graphics cards, based on the RDNA 4 architecture.

The information is not new, but users remain hopeful that the features could be implemented in some way on older GPUs as well. FSR 4, for example, had its source code leaked and it didn’t take long for programmers to make the technology work on past cards.

In the meantime, it’s worth remembering that FSR is now the official technology name for AMD GPUs, and FidelityFX Super Resolution has been left aside.
