If you like racing games and haven’t played Forza Horizon 4 yet, you have until December to make sure you do. That’s because Playground Games announced that the game will be removed from the Microsoft Store and Steam on December 15th.

Therefore, from that date onwards, it will no longer be possible to purchase the digital version of the game for either the computer or the Xbox, and the game will no longer be in the catalog of the company’s subscription gaming service. But, it is worth mentioning, you will still be able to purchase physical copies of the game.

Forza Horizon 4 starts having promotions before removal

And for those who haven’t bought the game yet and need that little extra push to decide to purchase it, Microsoft will run some promotions for the title. Currently, the standard, deluxe and supreme editions of Forza Horizon 4 are already 80% off on Steam. The standard one is going from around R$250 to R$50, while the luxury one goes from R$309 to R$61.80 while the supreme one, which was originally R$400, becomes R$80.

Starting July 14, the game will also be on sale on the Microsoft Store.

Reason for removal and future of the game

Forza Horizon 4

According to Playground Games, the removal of Forza Horizon 4 from digital stores is due to the expiration of licensing agreements. The game features digital versions of several real cars and many licensed songs, which makes it difficult to maintain these licenses indefinitely.

The studio also announced that Forza Horizon 4’s Festival Playlists are coming to an end. The final playlist will begin on July 25, with the release of Series 77, and will end on August 22.

This will be the last opportunity for players to earn achievements related to Festival Playlists. After the end of Series 77, it will no longer be possible to interact with the playlists tab, in addition to viewing the playlist history. However, daily and weekly challenges will still be available.

Good news for Game Pass users

Forza Horizon 4 DLC

For those who purchased any of the Forza Horizon 4 expansions and were playing the title via Game Pass, there is good news. If you had an active, fully paid (i.e. not discounted) Xbox Game Pass subscription on June 25 and purchased Forza Horizon 4 DLC, you will receive a token that can be redeemed for the base game.

Playground Games said it may take a while for the code to reach the Xbox Message Center, but players will have until June 25, 2026 to redeem it.

Continued online support

Despite the game’s removal from digital stores, Forza Horizon 4’s servers will remain online indefinitely.

This means that, apart from Festival Playlists, the game will continue to be playable as normal, including online multiplayer modes. For fans of the franchise, this is good news, ensuring that they will be able to continue enjoying the game even after its removal.
