Known mainly due to energy efficiency, Arm architecture has a complicated relationship with the Windows system. Although the system has adapted well to chips like Snapdragon X, it is still known to have compatibility problems that prevent the execution of many applications.
However, Chris Bergey, senior vice president and general manager of ARM clients product division, believes this is a problem solved. In an interview with PC Gamer, he explained that compatibility issues still deserve attention, but became minimal.

“I believe there are still many concerns, but what we are seeing has been very encouraging”He explained.“I mean, I think Microsoft has presented various types of evidence – you know, they obviously have a lot of telemetry. The average user spends about 93% of their time now with native ARM applications, and others that are not native have a very good performance”.
However, statistics does not take into account the amount of applications a person can use – What Bergey doesn’t see as a problem either. According to him, Emulator Prism has evolved a lot and is able to ensure both the compatibility and the good performance of various software.
Arm, Windows and the Games Question
During the interview, Bergey acknowledged that Arm architecture still represents a problem for those who want to use Windows to play. He explains that the main issue involves anticheats implemented by several companies, which use specific registration keys to their operation.

Well, these records do not exist in architecture. They are a kind of legacy records that are not needed. And then that’s what kicked this anticheats thing. We had to work with Microsoft and partners to adhere to these things… I believe it’s a journey, but I think the experience of many users is good.

The executive also claims to believe that The situation of games will improve as more developers adopt an agnostic stance. However, he acknowledges that this results in more work and the success of the Sói contract will happen to some industry incentive.

For Bergey, in the future the situation should become similar to a studio deciding to support both AMD and Nvidia GPUS. “At the end of the day, it is part of the developers’ best interest to support both,” he explained. With large companies investing more and more in architecture, the chances that this can really become a reality seem to be quite high at the moment.
