SDC (Super Display Company) has unveiled its latest OLED Gamer Display, the 540-Meta Flash, with an impressive special mode that reaches up to 720Hz update rate. This is another model that disputes in the race for ultra-high update rate monitors.
The information was published in Reddit and the translation was made by the Videocardz website.
It was built with the 4th generation OLED panel of LG Display and Primary RGB Tandem technology. The 26.5 inch screen supports a 2560 × 1440 resolution and offers movement clarity with a response time of only 0.03ms.
By default, the monitor supports 540Hz of update rate. However, it comes with a 720Hz special mode designed for competitive and more demanding gamers. Although the technical file does not mention details, it is speculated that this update rate requires a reduction in resolution, with estimate that can display at most 720p to 720 Hz.

The maximum brightness supported is 1500 Nits, with color coverage of 99.5% DCI-P3. It comes with HDR TB 500 certification and 1.5 million static contrast: 1. In addition, it has anti -reflex coating.
And even if most players do not need more than 240Hz for a soft game experience, the release shows that manufacturers are bringing displays technology to the limit. Another example of this effort is the MSI MPG 242R X60N monitor, which reaches 600 Hz.
In addition, companies have also worked on other quality items for players. Razer launched Phantom Collection, its new gamer peripheral line, and Nintendo has installed native support to keyboard and mouse on switch 2, allowing cyberpunk 2077 to be played with keyboard and mouse.

Disappointments and challenges

The biggest disappointment is in the connections. Instead of the modern 2.1 or HDMI 2.2 display, Flash 540 Meta includes only 1.4 displayport and HDMI 2.1. And some of the users who saw the specifications in Reddit have already pointed out that running 1440p at 720Hz will require DSC compression or optimized settings.
For more home users, there is yet another question: despite the impressive specifications and the capacity of the monitor, reaching 720 fps at 1440p in modern games will be a big challenge. Users are likely to only reach these numbers in mild eSports titles.
Thus, the monitor remains a niche product, mainly aimed at the competitive audience in China and Japan. Also because SDC does not provide out of these countries, bringing another challenge to the public in the form of a medium to acquire the monitor.
The 540-meta flash should be launched for about 150,000 yen (approximately R $ 5777).
