The former CEA of Intel, Craig Barrett, said the company should dismiss the Administrative Council and rehire Pat Gelsinger as CEO. He made this statement in response to the proposal of former directors who suggested dividing Intel into two businesses. For Barrett, this decision would weaken the company, especially when its technology approaches the advances of TSMC.
In an article published in Fortune, Barrett argued that the lack of competitive technology was the main reason for Intel’s failure in the foundry sector. He explained that customer distrust was not the problem.

Moreover, now that the company has made advances with its Intel 18a process, it argues that the priority should be the strengthening of this segment. Thus, he believes this is a way to ensure fair prices, efficient technical support and reliable production capacity.

Pat Gelsinger and the impact of Intel’s exit
The former CEO also rejected Intel’s separation proposal, saying that this would create additional challenges without solving the company’s structural problems. According to him, maintaining the integrated casting unit will allow Intel to expand its technology and directly compete with TSMC.
In addition to defending the continuity of the company as a single business, Barrett harshly criticized the current council and former Intel directors. Thus, he said the group was responsible for the company’s decline in the last decade. According to Barrett, former directors who suggested the division do not have sufficient experience to deal with the complexity of the semiconductor sector.

Pat Gelsinger, removed from the position of CEO in December, led the development of new technologies of Intel. In addition, during management, the company accelerated the production of advanced chips and sought to recover competitiveness against TSMC. Part of the executive’s success led him to guarantee more than $ 10 million after departure from the company.
“In my opinion, the best alternative would be to fire the Intel’s advice and rehire Pat Gelsinger to finish the work he has conducted in recent years,” the strategic error of Gelsinger’s departure. Finally, he argued that Intel should continue the projects initiated by the former CEO.
