An analysis conducted by YouTuber Austin Evans confirmed that the new PlayStation 5 Pro model CFI-7121, now available across Europe, brings some improvements over the original model.
The most significant difference is in energy efficiency. In tests carried out with Astro’s Playroom and Gran Turismo 7, the CFI-7121 model has been shown to be 2% to 3% more energy efficient. And that’s even when running replays in Gran Turismo 7, which demand more from the system, with full ray tracing support.
Thanks to better energy efficiency, the new system also operates at slightly lower temperatures than the 2024 launch model.
The CFI-7121 model is also quieter. In tests, the new unit proved to be 20% quieter than the launch modelrepresenting a difference of 2 decibels. The slightly lower sound profile of the new fan further reinforces this reduction.

Minimum Differences
The differences between the two models are minimal. Changes like a slightly different fan from another manufacturer, a plastic grille in place of a metal grille, a lighter rear heatsink, the removal of some VMMs from the motherboard, and a lighter and possibly more efficient power supply.
The result is that the new console is also lighter, it’s 3,016 grams compared to 3,105 grams for the launch model.
In the case of the DualSense controller, the changes are even smaller. In addition to some small internal changes and parts produced by a different manufacturer than those used in the launch control, the new DualSense only had the rear microphone removed.
This change was likely made to keep manufacturing costs low without significantly impacting control performance and functionality.
At Kabum, the PS 5 Pro costs R$6,416.07. The slim version costs R$ 3,532.98 and the normal console, with Gran Turismo 7 and Astro Bot included, costs R$ 3,533.07. Considering that the changes mentioned were not related to cost, it is possible that, at some point, the new model will reach Brazilian stores and the value will remain the same.
