Dell is warning its customers that it plans a price increase for its PCs and notebooks in the coming weeks, in mid-December. The information is not official, but sources who received the notification informed TrendForce, adding the expectation that the increases should be between 15% and 20%.
Obviously, the reason for the adjustment would be the rising prices of memory products, driven by immense demand with increasingly scarce supplies, thanks to the industry’s AI hype.

At the end of last month we had a Dell representative commenting on these cost increases. Jeff Clarke, the company’s COO, told Bloomberg that he would never have seen the prices of memory components increase so quickly, and that the impact can be felt across all product lines.
Lenovo should follow Dell’s increases in January
TrendForce mentions that Lenovo is also issuing similar warnings to its customers, with a forecast of increasing the prices of its products on January 1, 2026. In addition to memory costs, Lenovo also cites a more direct impact from the demand for AI.

According to the company, other companies are accelerating their orders for high-performance systems to offer AI services. This has another impact on component stocks, also increasing prices. Unlike Dell, however, we do not have an estimate of how much Lenovo can raise the price of its notebooks.
Prices should continue to rise
News of price increases will become increasingly frequent in the coming months, and the situation is likely to get worse before it gets better. Enrique Lores, CEO of HP, has already mentioned on another occasion that he expects the first half of 2026 to be the most complicated in the current “crisis” in the memory market.

Meanwhile, AMD has already increased the prices of its Radeon RX 9000 cards and we have rumors that NVIDIA may simply stop including GDDR7 modules in its RTX 50 kits. Both Lisa Su and Jensen Huang, CEOs of the two companies, have made statements in recent weeks categorically denying that the AI hype would be a bubble.
