Launched in early 2025, the first generation of the Large Language Model (LLM) shook markets by presenting great efficiency, an OpenSource format and low development costs. His training was done using 50,000 Hopper GPUs obtained by High-Flyer Capital Management investors.

Among them were 30 thousand units of NVIDIA H20 processors, 10,000 h800s and 10,000 h100s. According to The Information, DeepSeek planned to use similar solutions for training its R2 modelbut he saw his ambitions slowed down the difficulty in obtaining the hardware he needs.

However, the sources consulted by the vehicle state that the model is progressing well and its creators should not be paralyzed by the situation. At the same time, the CEO of the responsible company, Liang Wenfeng, is not yet satisfied with the abilities presented so far by the second generation of LLM.

Deepseek R2 can cause new shaking in markets

The Information states that export restrictions to China also affected the first generation of DeepSek. Many companies that adopted the R1 model have decided to execute it using Nvidia’s H200, and now find themselves without access to a component considered important for their operations.

Despite the difficulties, the site bets that the R2 model should shake the market again when it is launched. If it surpasses the abilities of other open use alternatives, its rapid adoption can quickly exceed the capabilities of the infrastructure that supports the Chinese cloud.

Even if DeepSeek R2 is successful, future generations of the model are still at risk if restrictions on China remain in vogue. Reports indicate that he is very dependent on Nvidia technologies for his training and operation, which is a major problem at a time when the company will no longer consider the country in its tax reports.

At the same time, companies that still operate in the country are taking steps to quickly become viable options to technologies whose access is restricted. Among the names that should benefit the most of the situation is Huawei, which has even been recruiting former joining of his American rival.
