Crucial finally launches 4TB option for its T500 SSD

Crucial has finally made good on a promise it made last year and released a 4TB option to its T500 SSD lineup. The company’s much-hyped drives came in 1TB and 2TB variants, with the higher-capacity model promised to come “at a later date.” The SSD now completes the Crucial T500 family.

The manufacturer’s new 4TB drive connects via the PCIe Gen 4 x4 interface to offer up to 7,000MB/s sequential read speeds, with the write speed reaching 6,900MB/s. In terms of performance, it is less than the 2TB model in the same line, which reaches 7,400MB/s and 7,000MB/s, respectively. The SSD’s durability reaches 2400TBW and Crucial offers a 5-year warranty for the product.

The 4TB T500 comes in options with or without a heatsink. It is available on the company’s official website for $400, and adding the heatsink brings the price to $450. It is worth noting that this is an SSD compatible with the PS5, so even with the heatsink it remains the right size to fit in the console.

Will the 4TB Crucial T500 arrive in Brazil?

Currently, it is possible to find not only the 1TB and 2TB Crucial T500 here in Brazil, but curiously also 500GB models. This version is not available in the US, but it is sold here.

Therefore, it is imaginable that the 4TB version will also appear here eventually, even if it is through stores that facilitate import.

The T500 line takes advantage of the PCIe 4 interface, which is still widely used even with the availability of PCIe 5. Considering that this is the connection present in the PS5, many manufacturers will probably still invest in this generation for a while. Crucial, however, is already working with new generation products, which includes T700 SSDs, for example.
