CES 2026 came to an end last Friday, January 9th, but some of its highlights should still appear in the news throughout this week. This is the case, for example, with the new Polar V2 sources, which Cougar took to show at the event.
The PSUs will be offered in capacities of 850W, 1,000W and 1,200W – and it is the most advanced model that has caught the eye. Visitors to the fair must have been surprised to see the component on the Cougar stand, boasting a total of six ports for 16-pin connectors.
The brand also placed a lot of emphasis on the 12V-2×6 connections, lining them all up above the others and even painting the doors orange. You can imagine connecting six video cards at the same time, which would be a bit scary for a source with “only” 1,200W of capacity.
Cougar bets on broad modularity in the Polar V2 line
These six 16-pin ports are not exactly what they seem at first glance. In fact, they are there to act as modular connections, and Cougar offers several adapters along with the source for the user to use the connections as they prefer.
Each port can be used for a normal 12V-2×6 connector, but it is also possible to switch to 6+2-pin PCIe cables, for example. The CPU EPS cable, for the processor, must also be connected to one of these ports, using the adapter that comes with the Polar V2.
New fonts bring 80 Plus Platinum seal
The row of orange connectors is the big difference in Cougar’s new power supplies. Other than that, they bring features that are expected from today’s premium models.

The three variants have the 80 Plus Platinum seal for energy efficiency and are certified with the ATX 3.1 standard. Polar V2 power supplies measure 150mm and come with a 130mm fan, with fluid dynamic bearing (FDB).
Unfortunately, Cougar has not yet revealed a launch window or prices for its new line of fonts.
