Corsair launches MP700 PRO XT, PCIe 5.0 SSD with 14.9GB/s reading and 14.5GB/s writing

Taking advantage of the week of launches of ultra-fast SSDs, Corsair presented the MP700 PRO XT. The company’s new high-end drive uses a PCIe 5.0 interface to offer up to 14.9GB/s, just like its new competitors from TeamGroup and PNY.

The big difference in the new Corsair model, however, should attract those looking for maximum performance. While the drive “ties” in sequential read speed at 14,900MB/s, it can outperform the competition in sequential writes, reaching 14,500MB/s – or 14.5GB/s.

These speeds are valid for all capacity options of the new SSD, which are 1TB, 2TB and 4TB – although the larger version did not appear until we published this post on the official website.

In comparison, PNY’s CS3250 and TeamGroup’s Z54E deliver a maximum of 14,000MB/s of sequential writing, only in their 2TB and up variants.

In other words, for now Corsair can boast of having the fastest domestic SSD commercially available. No wonder the company will charge for it, asking $160 for the 1TB MP700 PRO XT and $250 for the 2TB variant.

Corsair also presents a new capacity option for the MP700 Micro

On the heels of its new high-performance PCIe 5.0 SSDs, Corsair also introduced a new capacity option for the MP700 Micro.

The line is also compatible with PCIe 5.0, but uses the M.2 2242 format, for more compact devices. Previously only available with 2TB, the company now also offers a 4TB model, for US$485.

It promises speeds of up to 10,000MB/s in sequential reading, with recording at 8,500MB/s.
