Microsoft introduced Copilot+ PCs this year, 2024, but their sales will only see a major boost within the market in 2025 – according to information gathered in the latest research carried out by Omdia on notebooks with artificial intelligence.
According to the institute, we will see a jump of up to 533.5% in the Arm-based notebooks in its line – which from 800 thousand shipped this year, could reach 5.2 million next year. Estimates are for growth in the segment, expecting to reach its peak in 2029 with 58 million units being shipped to stores.

- 2025 – 5.2 million units shipped;
- 2026 – 14.6 million units shipped;
- 2027 – 28.3 million units shipped;
- 2028- 47.7 million units shipped;

Even with a slowdown from 2026 onwards, estimates are that Microsoft’s Copilot+ PCs will have the highest annual sales growth of all time – accompanied by the adoption of artificial intelligence in society’s daily life.

Copilot+ PC sales in the market
With the AI boom in 2023, the hardware industry that adopts the technology has grown – as has the demand for its use, whether by domestic consumers or technology giants – directly impacting PC sales and bringing Microsoft’s initiative to introduce Copilot+ to the market.
In the second quarter of 2024, the number of units sold reached double that recorded in the previous period – reaching a peak of 8.8 million between the months of April and June. Of these, 14% were “AI PCs”. With the popularization of processors such as the AMD Ryzen AI 300 and the Intel Core Ultra 200V, this is expected to grow even more.
While Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite delivers improvements over Arm – particularly in power savings – the x86 models will also see a big sales boost when they are added to Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC system in late 2024.
x86 is expected to reach 34.2 million units in 2025; 60.7 million units in 2026; 91.3 million units in 2027; 107.7 million units in 2028 and also peak in 2029 with 121 million units sold worldwide.
