The YouTube channel Fps Vn compared the Legion Go S and the ROG Ally X, showing that the second is a little faster than the first. The ROG console is based on the Z1 Extreme chip, with 8 cores and 16 threads, while the Lenovo console comes with the Ryzen Z2 Go, which has just 4 cores and 8 threads, based on the Zen 3 architecture.
Despite having half the core count and a boost clock of 4.3 GHz compared to the Z1 Extreme’s 5.1 GHz, the Z2 Go is quite close to the Z1 Extreme, being 10% slower in comparison.
This difference is impressive, considering that the Legion Go S is an economical portable console, reportedly priced at $599 with Windows OS and $499 with Steam OS. The ROG Ally X launched at $799. Therefore, the Legion Go S offers a much better price-performance ratio, although it is not as feature-rich as the Ally X.

Consoles Lenovo
The Legion Go S is Lenovo’s next portable gaming console for the budget segment. It’s not faster than the Legion Go 2, and reportedly not as fast as portable gaming consoles already on the market, like the ROG Ally X. Its advantage is the lower cost compared to the competition.
While the Legion Go S is based on the Zen 4 architecture, the Z2 Extreme is based on the Zen 5 architecture and will be implemented in the Lenovo Legion Go 2, which will succeed the original Legion Go handheld console.
When it comes to the Ryzen Z2 Go, you shouldn’t expect it to compete with the latest portable gaming consoles like the OneXFly F1 Pro or any other portable console that features the Zen 5 architecture.
However, the comparison between the Legion Go S and the ROG Ally X reveals aThere’s great potential for Lenovo’s new budget console. The new console is expected to arrive in 2025.
