Colorful also works on CUDIMM DDR5 at 9,600MT/s [RUMOR]

Colorful is the latest company to join the list of memory manufacturers adopting CUDIMM DDR5 technology. This time, however, we are still in the rumor phase, with a leak indicating new modules from the company using the resource.

The image below appeared on Chiphell, showing a screenshot with CPU-Z on a system supposedly equipped with Colorful’s new memories. Speeds would reach up to 9,600MT/s, with CAS latency of 44.

It’s the same speed Asgard promised in its Thor CUDIMM DDR5 memory modules. Apparently, we will see more and more companies working with similar numbers, taking advantage of the great difference in technology.

CUDIMM modules have the same appearance as traditional DIMM memories, but incorporate a clock driver (CKD) that helps maintain module stability at higher frequencies. Therefore, Clocked Unbuffered is added to the acronym DIMM, resulting in the name that generates some jokes here in Brazil.

In addition to Colorful and Asgard, V-Color has also presented its own components that take advantage of the technology. In this case, however, they were at 9200MT/s. The folks at WCCFTech also highlight Biwin and Lexar on the list of manufacturers adopting CUDIMM.

CUDIMM becomes popular in new boards

This week we had confirmation that AMD Ryzen 9000 and 8000 processors will support CUDIMM memories on the new X870 and X870E boards. Previously it was already known that we will have support for Intel solutions.

Thus, the format becomes increasingly widespread, and brands start to chase the highest possible frequencies. There is already talk of the possibility of breaking the 10,000MT/s barrier, despite recent rumors indicating that we are still far from that.
