Chinese manufacturer Firebat recently launched its new gaming notebook, the Huan 16 Air. The product features an 8GB RTX 4060, which is not unusual for a device of this type, but it draws attention for its design that allows the GPU to be swapped. In other words, the Huan 16 Air is another notebook risking some modularity.
It is common knowledge that one of the main disadvantages of gaming notebooks is their inability to upgrade. To ensure portability and efficiency, many components are soldered onto the board, preventing the same type of versatility offered by a PC.
Different attempts to make notebooks more modular didn’t prove very successful, so Firebat followed a “controlled risk” path. The Huan 16 Air is not completely modular, it just isolates the graphics card, allowing it to be exchanged for future upgrades.
It’s an interesting solution for a product aimed at gaming, since it’s when changing the GPU that players will feel the most difference when they want to improve their notebook’s performance.

Of course, the graphics card is not the only component that matters in a notebook. The Huan 16 Air also incorporates a Ryzen 7 8845HS, a Hawk Point processor based on Zen 4. The TDP of the component is 90W, while the GPU can reach 140W. The total for the notebook, however, is estimated at 170W.
The new Firebat device also features 32GB of RAM with a 1TB SSD. The 16” screen has 2.5K resolution (2560 x 1600p) and reaches up to 240Hz frequency. The manufacturer also highlights the presence of a USB4 connection with 100W Power Delivery, in addition to a mini DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 port.
