Chinese GPU Moore Threads gains compatibility with DitectX12 games

Moore Threads has released its first driver for its MTT S80 and MTT S70 GPUs with DirectX 12 support. Even a year after release, the card lacked support for this API and the update allows the card to run modern games that require DirectX 12 .

Even though this GPU is the flagship of the series, it still struggles to compete with modern GPUs from competitors like AMD, NVIDIA and Intel. Below is the company’s official statement:

“On October 15, Moore Threads released the beta version of its DirectX 12 driver to the community, available for download via a designated link.

With this new release, MTT S80 and MTT S70 graphics card users can now experience DirectX 12 gaming on a home GPU. At the same time, Moore Threads started “Operation Alpha” in its “Mocha Players” community, inviting more gamers to test the DirectX 12 beta driver and provide feedback to speed up driver updates.

Currently, there are more than 500 games on the market that support DirectX 12. Many well-known titles, such as Elden Ring and Death Stranding, run exclusively on the DirectX 12 API. Now, with the new beta driver, users can run these games on the MTT S80 and MTT S70″.

Performance Improvement

Moore Threads confirms that the update enables support for 500 new games that already have DX12 compatibility. However, it is important to highlight that “executing” and “being optimized for” are two different things and, as the company itself highlighted in its statement, tests will be carried out to improve performance.

According to X (formerly Twitter) user Loschzwerg, who owns the MTT S80 GPU, the card scored 3,783 points in total in 3DMark Time Spy and 3,452 points in graphics, which is almost the same as the Radeon 890M, the latest card integrated graphics present in the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU (which scored 3,491 points). Previously, the card was unable to run this test.
