The first week of February began with the official 10% tax institution on imported products from China to the US. Now, in response to the decision, the Asian country is imposing its own restrictions on US companies, which includes not only tariffs, but also an antitrust investigation on Google.

Of course, Chinese authorities did not officially comment that the measures would be retaliation of new US tariffs, but the “timing” makes it evident.

Google has not operated on a large scale in China since 2010, when its main services such as Gmail, YouTube and Play have stopped working there. At the time, the company accused local authorities to practice censorship.

However, the technology giant did not leave the country completely. They still work with hardware sales, AI survey and other commercial operations in China. And now they will be the subject of government investigation on charges of violating their antimonopoly law.

In addition to the investigation, China is imposing a 15% rate on certain US imported products. The tax is larger than the rival, but is not widespread. It will be applied only in coal and liquefied natural gas (LNG). Other products will receive a 10%tax, including raw oil, farm equipment, large vehicles and pickup trucks.

China puts restrictions on products that also sends

The new restrictions involving the US revealed by the Chinese authorities also affect their exports. Raw material such as tungsten, molybdenum, ruthenium and Ruthenium-based items will receive more control on their outskirts.

Finally, the retaliation package places two new US companies on the list of entities in China: PVH Group, owner of Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger and Illumina InC, specializing in biotechnology.
