Brazilian moders Paulo Gomes, Jefferson Silva and Felipe Triana were able to modernize GTX 970, increasing their memory capacity. They replaced the standard memory modules of 512 MB to 7 Gbps with 1 GB modules at 8 Gbps.
Prior to modification, the GPU was tested on Benchmark Unigine SuperPosition (8K), initially 800 points. After modification and overclocking, the score almost doubled to 1,500 points. In short, with 1 GB at 8 Gbps, the GPU performed significantly better.

This update also reveals a recurring pattern: GPUs often suffer from memory limitations, which affects their longevity. Even in 2025, companies still launch plates with 8 GB, which only support gaming at 1080p or need short -term upgrade.
