BIOS UPDATE PCIE 5.0 NON -OPTAINED IN GIGABYTE B650 PLATES

Gigabyte board users with AMD B650 chipset are reporting that the latest update of BIOS for models is disabling PCIE 5.0 support on SLOT X16. The plates will support only PCIE 4.0, as the official specifications of AMD send.

As Videocardz explains, PCIE 5.0 support is a differential in B650E models or for more advanced plates. B650 options do not officially support the latest generation of the interface, but for some reason they have been launched with working technology.

The change should not have a noticeable impact on the performance of video cards, however. WCCFTECH points out that PCIE 4.0 x16 is already enough for current GPUS, even high-end options of the RTX 50 line, for example. What would cause performance to fall would be to pass the X16 connection to X8.

To keep PCIE 5.0 just not update

Bio updates are important not only for access to new features, but also to keep your hardware components safe. Gigabyte’s latest version, the F36, not only disables PCIE 5.0, but also corrects two different vulnerabilities, as its description shows on the official website.

To maintain the latest generation of the interface, however, just do not update and continue in the F34 version. The latest update “jumps” to F35 because it has come out with problems and the F36 is the version that replaces it.

It is important to note that PCI 5.0 support in B650 plates is not official and seems to have been an accident. Thus, it is possible that bugs will appear using the technology. At the chiphell forum, user Hugable Carrot, comments on the subject:

“(…) There were many complaints in the first half of the year on plates running at 5.0,” says the post, in free translation. “The motherboard manufacturer should not be guilty of something that is not her fault.”
