Like most technology companies, Asus is working to mitigate the impact of increasingly aggressive taxes that the US has decided to impose on products imported from China. In a recent meeting with its investors, the company admitted that these measures may end up resulting in increasing the price of its products to customers.

“We will try to limit these costs to a reasonable level,” said one of the company’s co-ceos. “However, as we make more adjustments to production lines, it can be possible to pass some of these costs to our customers” – that is, charge more for their products.

The question raised by ASUS representatives is that the increase in tariffs is not just a greater expense of companies to bring their products manufactured in China. Companies that choose to move their production lines to avoid taxes will have to spend on infrastructure, which can also result in price increases.

For US disappointment, however, many of these companies seek to move their production lines to other countries, not necessarily to Uncle Sam’s land. Asrock, for example, bet on Vietnam and Taiwan to avoid taxes in China.

Asus says he wants to keep competitive prices

At a time when most manufacturers will end up increasing the prices of their products, those that can maintain values or make less significant increases will be able to stand out among customers. Asus claims that this is what seeks to do.

“We are seeing some brands already starting to make adjustments to their prices to cover their costs,” added the company executive. “But for Asus, we will do our best to limit the impact of these changes to our customers. We will try to keep our offer as the most competitive, both in terms of service quality and prices. ”
