ASUS is preparing a new ROG Flow Z13 tablet model to launch later in 2025, powered by the upcoming AMD “Strix Halo” APUs.
The leak of the compact model with a removable keyboard occurred through the document published by thermal expert and designer Sam Jiun-Wei Hu. The data presented reveals that the new gaming tablet is made to accompany the arrival of the “Strix Halo” line of processors – which will also occur in 2025.
The Flow Z13 2025 aims to raise the bar in this category by integrating the most powerful AMD Strix Halo processors (CPU up to 30W and GPU reaching up to 80W). However, achieving this high performance in a 13-inch tablet requires a revolutionary and efficient thermal solution to handle the heat generated by these components. This design addresses the gap in effective thermal management solutions for high-performance compact gaming tablets.

It’s worth noting that ASUS has made good use of the space with the CPUs and iGPU occupying a single die for the ROG Flow Z13 2025, which will also use LPDDR5X memory. The memory will be covered by an even larger vapor chamber than the one seen in the manufacturer’s previous gaming tablets.
The die will have three chiplets, two CCDs for Zen5 cores and one for the iGPU – with I/O and memory controllers included. Regarding the CPU, its space accommodates 8 cores for each CCD, which can total 16 cores and 32 threads based on the manufacturer’s architecture.
The ASUS ROG Flow Z13 2025’s iGPU measures 19.18 x 16.02mm – larger than what we see in the Strix Point generation and allocating up to 40 computational units of the RDNA 3.5 structure. Its performance could be compared to Intel Raptor Lake and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 (GN21).

ASUS ROG Flow Z13 Power Consumption
It is notable that AMD already wants to reach 30W CPU and 80W GPU in the Strix Point generation (Ryzen AI 300), leading to believe that ASUS may – in some way – change the consumption limit of the ROG Flow Z13 device or receive variants of the Strix Halo with these pre-defined values in a custom way.
Sam Jiun-Wei Hu tested the cooling solution on the new tablet, which, despite being lighter than previous models, has a thicker design. Engineers say it will be less portable and safer. It may have larger ventilation holes and be noisier than older versions.
More information should be seen in the next announcements, considering that this should not be the only model produced by ASUS to take advantage of the launch of AMD Strix Halo APUs in 2025 – as we should see from other manufacturers as well.
