ASUS today introduced its collection of motherboards with X870 and X870E chipsets optimized for AMD’s Ryzen 9000 series processors. There are several options in different price ranges and feature sets, divided into the manufacturer’s ROG, TUF, ProArt and Prime lines.

The company’s main highlight is the ROG Crosshair X870E Hero, its most expensive and most advanced model. The board features premium metallic textures, nickel-plated surfaces and several aesthetic details, in addition to the features, of course. Thus, the ROG Crosshair X870E Hero features NitroPath DRAM technology, two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, a total of five M.2 slots and is fully compatible with Wi-Fi 7, in addition to offering two Ethernet ports.

ASUS also bets on AI to promote its cards

While ASUS acknowledges that AI is a topic that involves more GPUs and NPUs in its promotion, it still didn’t want to shy away from using the buzzword of the moment in its reveal of its new boards. “An advanced AI PC relies heavily on the graphics card to accelerate AI work,” the company says in its announcement. “But when you look at performance holistically, there’s no doubt that the CPU and motherboard play a vital role in laying the foundation for the build.”

More about X870:

In addition to appearing in the promotion of the use of your PC, AI also appears as a feature present in the motherboards themselves. ASUS highlights that the models use the technology for intelligent overclocking, for example, facilitating the acceleration of their CPUs. In addition, some of the boards also offer AI Cooling II and AI Networking II, optimizations for cooling and network management, respectively.
