ASUS announced this week its new ROG Strix Platinum line, which features high-capacity modular ATX 3.1 power supplies. The components are PCIe 5.0 compatible and feature the 80 Plus Platinum energy efficiency seal, as well as a 10-year warranty from the manufacturer.

Like other products in the ROG Strix line, the new ASUS power supplies are premium, aimed at the high-end segment. Thus, we have three models, with capacities of 850W, 1,000W and even 1,200W, which should be able to power any current home system.

ASUS is highlighting its proprietary Intelligent Voltage Stabilizer (IVS) technology for GPUs. The acronym stands for “intelligent voltage stabilizer” and, according to the brand, “ensures that even overclocked graphics cards receive a stable flow of power”. The manufacturer appears to be targeting users’ concerns about the increasingly demanding power demands of current and future GPUs.

The new ROG Strix Platinum ATX 3.1 power supplies also feature “0dB mode,” which disables the fan while the power supply is operating at 40% or less, for quieter operation. ASUS points out that the 1,000W model stays below 20dB even outside of this operating mode, ensuring an A+ Cybenetics Lambda certificate for noise emission.

ASUS highlights premium features of its sources, but is tight-lipped about pricing

In order to promote energy efficiency and even improvements in heat dissipation in the ROG Strix Platinum line, ASUS highlights its Gallium Nitride (GaN) MOSFET. The material offers up to 30% more efficiency than previous generations of power supplies, and also results in smaller internal components. This leaves more space for heatsinks that help cool the products.

Unfortunately, ASUS has yet to disclose the prices of its new PSUs, but mentions that they are high-end products for advanced builds – which will most likely be reflected in the price charged for the power supplies.
