ASUS launches 3000W power supply that supports up to 4 RTX 5090 GPUs

ASUS presented its new line of Pro WS Platinum power supplies this week, bringing high-capacity and performance components to enthusiast builds. There are different models, with the maximum capacity reaching 3,000W – enough to, theoretically, power up to 4 RTX 5090 at the same time.

The sources are compatible with the ATX 3.1 format, obviously offering PCIe 5.1 support. The pins are made of copper with gold plating, promising better conductivity and durability. Furthermore, the sources have a modular design, making cable management easier.

Speaking of solutions to make life easier for the user, the new ASUS Pro WS Platinum power supplies also come with colored 12V-2×6 connectors, a solution that has become popular to help visualize when the plug is properly inserted, to avoid accidents.

80 Plus Platinum seal promises more than 90% efficiency

Unsurprisingly, the “Platinum” in the name of ASUS’ new sources refers to its seal of efficiency. The entire line comes stamped with 80 Plus Platinum, which promises more than 90% energy efficiency across different loads.

More precisely, ASUS estimates an efficiency of almost 94% in common workloads and a rate of up to 90% when the sources are at maximum use.

While some brands already opt for the more modern Cybenetics efficiency seal, the traditional 80 Plus badge does not seem to have fallen in popularity, even for very advanced models like the new Pro WS Platinum.

ASUS announced its new line of power supplies first in Europe, in three capacity options. Check out each variant and their suggested prices (MSRP) below:

• Pro WS Platinum de 1.600W: € 479 (R$ 2.959)
• Pro WS Platinum de 2.200W: € 619 (R$ 3.824)
• Pro WS Platinum de 3.000W: € 899 (R$ 5.554)

Only the most advanced model would theoretically be able to handle 4 RTX 5090 GPUs, whose TGP is 575W. But the intermediate option could already hold up to 4 RTX 5080.
