The race for the overclocking record in CUDIMM DDR5 memories has accelerated significantly in recent days with two consecutive records. First, Kingston announced the highest speed ever seen, with 12,108MT/s at the end of last week. Now, G.Skill and ASUS jointly announce that they have beaten this number, reaching 12,112MT/s with their components.
There is only a 4MT/s difference, but enough to put overclocker SafeDisk, from South Korea, ahead of Kovan Yang, who is now in second place. The impressive speed was achieved on CUDIMM DDR5 G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB modules. They were installed on an ASUS ROG Maximus Z890 Apex board, accompanied by an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor.
In the same way that the previous record was achieved, the speed of 12,112MT/s was not achieved in a way that could make practical use of the computer. It’s just a race by the numbers to show the potential of CUDIMM DDR5 technology. Therefore, SafeDisk also used liquid nitrogen (LN2) to cool the system, and the memory timing was 52-92-92-127-2.
CUDIMM DDR5 manufacturers fight for the spotlight
It is noteworthy that G.Skill is the first manufacturer to break the CUDIMM DDR5 overclocking record. This is because Kingston announced its achievement on the exact same day that G.Skill celebrated speeds above 12,000MT/s in overclocking, “stealing” the spotlight for itself at that moment.
Now, a few days later, the owner of the Trident Z5 modules is able to say that her memories enabled the overclocking record. In their release, G.Skill and ASUS make a comment that highlights the importance that companies give to this type of feat to help with their advertising:
More about CUDIMM DDR5:
“This world overclocking record shows that G.Skill and ASUS are at the forefront of hardware overclocking performance, and both companies are excited to support the overclocking community with the best performance solutions on the latest hardware and platforms.”
