Asrock will manufacture products in Vietnam and Taiwan to avoid US tariffs in China

Asrock is one of the first hardware component manufacturers to comment on the 10% tariff that Trump administration recently imposed aso products from China. To escape tariffs, however, the company does not intend to bring its production to the US, but to Taiwan and Vietnam.

Speaking to PC Mag, Asrock commented that “about the 10% applied to other products such as video cards, we need some time to transfer manufacture to other countries.” At another point in the interview, the company mentioned that these “other countries” would be Vietnam and Taiwan.

The company also commented on the effective price increase of products for customers, trying to reassure the public a little. “Since the market is still very competitive, it is not easy to increase prices,” said an Asrock representative.

Thus, the company would be willing to absorb some of the high costs during the period of reallocation of the production of its components, which can take a long time. “In the transition period, we can absorb some of the cost and also increase a little of the price to reflect the high costs.”

Asrock intends to keep part of production in China

Still in its statements for PC Mag, Asrock also mentioned other products that will still be manufactured in China. This will be the case for components that are already facing high tariffs and had no change.
