ASROCK investigates reports from users who claim to have encountered problems with their mother plates joined by Ryzen 7 9800x3D. Bugs would be preventing the PC from starting and, in more severe cases, people say the processor and socket have even been damaged. In a recent update of its investigations, Asrock states that at least one of these cases has been caused by simple dirt.
“In one of the cases where the CPU burned and was damaged, we recovered the motherboard. After testing, we found that this board had no evident damage or burn marks in the power supply area for the CPU (VRM), and all measured data on the plate still reached the specifications,” said ASROCK. “After carefully cleaning the CPU socket and removing debris, the plate turned on properly without repair and went on long burn-in and heavy workload tests.”

Asrock’s full statement makes it evident that she collected several user signs that reported problems with the Ryzen 7 9800x3D and continues to conduct tests. But early on the controversy, the company has already made an update of BIOS that would theoretically correct the bugs.
The Asrock Bios Update for its AM5 plates was made available in February. At the time, the company stated that it was an incompatibility in reading memory that was causing boot problems with Ryzen 7 9800x3D.

As the manufacturer’s investigation continues, we have indications that it was not the case. In fact, according to WCCFTECH, the processor has found similar problems also on MSI, Asus and Gigabyte plates. Thus, it seems that the problem can be more widespread than companies would like, although not affecting all processor units – or sockets.
