Aoostar is preparing a new dock for external GPUs that comes with two card options already installed. One is the Radeon RX 7600M XT, which is already present in several products of this type, while the other is the Radeon RX 7600M, which appears in this format for the first time. In any case, there are two variants with Navi 33 GPU.
Aoostar’s XG eGPU measures just 205 x 123 x 40mm, featuring an OCuLink connection, which is very popular in external graphics card solutions. Furthermore, it can also connect via USB 4. On the video side, we have two DisplayPort ports and one HDMI. The manufacturer even released comparisons of its product with a “competitor”, showing results in each type of connection:
Results show over 80fps in 3DMark using the USB4 dock, with the number rising to 90fps on OCuLink. The score jumps from 8,568 to 9,619. According to the manufacturer, its dock uses 120W to work, with a noise level of between 48 and 50dBA. It is important to highlight that the tests were carried out with the XT version of the GPU.
The product’s biggest differentiator is the Radeon RX 7600M. The “non-XT” version of the GPU, at the time of this post, apparently only appears on Aoostar’s XG eGPU. The card has 28 Compute Units (CUs), compared to the 32CUs of the complete Navi 33, which appear on the Radeon RX 7600M XT. The result is a final price of 2,899 yuan for the dock with the most affordable graphics card. The value is equivalent to more or less R$2,310.
Radeon RX 7600M XT becomes popular in external GPU docks
As mentioned earlier, the Radeon RX 7600M XT has been the top preference among external GPU manufacturers. The folks at VideoCardz have put together a table to help you visualize the most popular current options:
We can see that only two of the eight options bring a different configuration. The recently announced XG eGPU has a variant with the Radeon RX 7600M, while the OneXGPU 2 features a more powerful Radeon RX 7800M. It is worth remembering that this last dock recently received a themed version for the anime Evangelion.
