Summary
- Anatel and the Federal Revenue Service seized more than two tons of irregular electronics in Campina Grande (PB).
- The devices were valued at more than R$2 million.
- The operation is part of Anatel’s Anti-Piracy Action Plan and aims to stop unapproved electronic devices.
The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) and the Federal Revenue Service seized more than two tons of irregular electronics in Campina Grande (PB), last Thursday (30/11). The information was released yesterday (04/11). Operation Safira collected products valued at more than R$2 million and targets the sale of counterfeit devices, of irregular origin or without approval.
According to Anatel, the name of the operation refers to the blue color of Bluetooth — a technology present in most of the seized devices. These products must undergo approval before being sold in Brazil, in accordance with current regulations.
Anatel’s Plan to Combat Piracy
Operation Safira is part of Anatel’s Anti-Piracy Action Plan (PACP). According to the bodies involved, the initiative seeks to protect national interests, the legally established industry and consumer safety.
The agency warns that irregular devices, such as cell phone chargers, headphones and speakers, can present direct risks to the physical integrity of users. Among the dangers cited are the possibility of overheating, electric shocks, battery explosions and the leakage of toxic materials.

In a statement, advisor Alexandre Freire, leader of the topic at Anatel, highlighted the strategic importance of the action. “The sale of unapproved equipment is a double threat: it corrodes the legal market, discourages industry investment and, more seriously, exposes the consumer to real physical and cyber security risks,” he stated.
The inspection was carried out by Anatel’s Superintendence of Inspection (SFI), in partnership with the Smuggling and Embezzlement Suppression Division (DIREP04) of the Federal Revenue Service.
In addition to public agents, law firms representing brands affected by piracy followed the action. These representations will be responsible for the technical analysis of the seized materials to confirm irregularities.
New actions are planned for 2025
The action in Campina Grande adds to a series of operations intensified by Anatel and the Federal Revenue Service throughout 2025 to curb the trade of irregular electronics in Brazil.
Anatel’s Inspection Superintendent, Gesiléa Fonseca Teles, mentioned that Operation Safira follows recent actions in João Pessoa (PB) and Teresina (PI), and that new joint inspections should take place later this year.
Data from previous operations released by the agency illustrate the volume of the irregular market. In Teresina, Operation Poty, carried out on October 23, resulted in the seizure of R$2.5 million in goods. Other significant actions in 2025 include Operação Tomassarina, in Bahia, in May this year, which retained 56 thousand products with Bluetooth (headphones and speakers).
Last month, separate inspections in São Paulo, Bahia and Santa Catarina resulted in the sealing of 1.7 million meters of fiber optic cables, in addition to 45 thousand various electronic devices. In São José (SC), inspectors sealed 10,000 electronic locks, valued at R$5.7 million.
