Analogue reveals details of 3D, its enhanced version of the Nintendo 64

Known for offering a laptop that runs the original cartridges for the Game Boy, Game Boy Advance and other platforms, Analogue released this Thursday (17) more details of the 3D. The company’s new hardware aims to be the definitive version of the Nintendo 64, including working with physical games released for the platform.

According to the company, the new device is the first 100% faithful recreation of the old console, which marked some of Nintendo’s first experiments with 3D games. The promise is that the hardware will not cause input lag problems, visual inaccuracies or sound glitches that are common in emulators.

In other words, Analogue 3D promises to be a more accurate option than that offered by the Japanese company in the Switch’s online systems. “For the first time, you will be able to re-experience the Nintendo 64 as it should be, without any compromises”, promises the manufacturer.

Those who purchase Analogue 3D will also be able to play Nintendo 64 games with an upscale that improves the original resolution of their games by up to 10 times. The hardware will not have any region lock and will bring new features such as Bluetooth LE and dual-band WiFi connectivity, as well as four physical connections for original controls.

However, anyone who wants a more modern control option will be able to use a new wireless gamepad, which was developed in partnership with 8BitDo. The model will be sold separately for US$39.99 (R$226) and will also be compatible with the Switch and other platforms — in the US, it starts its pre-sale on October 21st.

Analogue 3D will begin pre-orders on the same day, costing US$249.99 (R$1417)an amount only slightly higher than that charged by Analogue Pocket. Working with an HDMI output and featuring variable frequency update modes, the product should reach consumers during the first quarter of 2025.
