A new leak suggests that AMD X870 motherboards and the X870E model are expected to launch on September 30, 2024, with the embargo for reviews falling on this day and also the release of units for sales in digital stores.
According to Amazon Germany, this will be the date on which the AM5 motherboards will be shipped to the public who pre-ordered them on its platform. According to its estimates, they should reach consumers between October 7th and 8th – with the maximum deadline being set for more “extreme” cases.
Although AMD X870 motherboards will be available on September 30th, manufacturers have not yet announced when we will see the B850 models on the market. Even though the top-of-the-line model has already been released, the “budget” version also holds a lot of expectations and more information about it should be released soon.
It is also notable that the model being made available by Amazon in Europe is part of Gigabyte’s new line, however the others should follow the same date – not only to avoid losing sales to its competitors, but also to have a wider range of options for the public during the initial period of the hardware’s arrival.
It is important to mention that AMD or Gigabyte have not commented on the start of sales of X870 motherboards – something that should happen soon, considering that the pages have already been opened to the public for pre-purchase.

It’s worth noting that AMD’s 800-series motherboards are AM5-based and support Ryzen 7000, 8000, and the new 9000 processors.
Despite this, users are not required to have an X870 or X870E to use AMD Ryzen 9000 “Granite Ridge” CPUs. Zen5 models are also supported by “600” motherboards.
Although the old ones still support the new processors, it is also important to mention that features such as Wi-Fi 7, additional USB4 connectors and the possibility of using higher speed memories will only be found on AMD X870 and X870E motherboards.
