A new leak about the AMD Ryzen Z2G brings more complete details about the processor, which includes its commercial name: Ryzen Z2 Go. The unofficial information, however, also states that this entry option for the new generation of AMD APUs for portable devices will be exclusive to Lenovo’s Legion Go S.

The rumors come from Golden Pig Upgrade Pack, which has a good track record in its leaks. It’s the same person who revealed the Ryzen Z2 series back in October this year. In a new post, he informs the name of the Z2 Go, its more detailed specs and information about the Legion Go S.

According to the post, the Ryzen Z2 Go has 4 cores and 8 threads, based on Zen 3+. It comes equipped with an RDNA 2 GPU with 12 Compute Units (CUs) and LPDDR5X-6400 memory support. Visibly, this is an entry-level APU, with a focus on more attractive costs, something that Golden Pig comments on in its own post.

In his post about the Z2 line in October, the “leaker” commented that each APU model will differ in its GPU architecture. While the Ryzen Z2 Go has RDNA 2, the standard Z2 uses RDNA 3 and the Z2 Extreme reaches RDNA 3.5.

Ryzen Z2 Go on just one device?

The new generation of AMD processors for notebooks has attracted attention due to its variety, which should result in an interesting portfolio of devices. So, for those who are not interested in a Legion Go S, it may be disappointing that only this console will be able to use the more affordable Ryzen Z2.

Lenovo’s entry-level laptop has been appearing in leaks for a while now. In previous unofficial information it already appeared equipped with the Ryzen Z2 Go, but it was not known that it would be the only one with the processor.

Another aspect that should help a lot with the value of the notebook is the possibility of it not using Windows. It is speculated that the Legion Go S could come with SteamOS as its operating system, marking one of the first devices of its kind to officially support Valve’s software outside of the Steam Deck.
