AMD Ryzen AI Max 300 appears in driver for ASUS card

The long-awaited Ryzen AI Max 300 series processors are basically an “open secret” at the moment. Even more so now that AMD has practically confirmed the existence of the series through a new driver for cards with the X670E chipset.

The information comes from HXL, on Twitter. The famous “leaker” spotted the Ryzen AI Max 300 series in the official driver list. The APUs are also known by the codename Strix Halo, and should arrive as the new high-end option for this generation of processors for AMD notebooks.

The main expectation for the new family of components is its integrated GPU, which seems to be somewhat advanced. According to leaks, the most advanced model in the line will feature 16 Zen 5 cores, accompanied by 40 Compute Units (CUs) based on RDNA 3.5. This way, the APU has the potential to displace some dedicated cards.

For most home PC users, the biggest interest in the Ryzen AI Max 300’s potential is in games. However, according to rumors, AMD seems interested in promoting its new processors primarily for workstations. This can be considered another indication that the products will not be cheap.

Based on the expectation that we will have products with Ryzen AI Max 300 processors arriving only next year, it is expected that AMD will officially announce its Strix Halo APUs at CES 2025.
