In June of this year, an NBD shipping manifest leaked some information about the upcoming Strix Point update, also known as AMD Gorgon Point SKUs. The Gorgon Point will be based on the Zen 5 architecture, bringing slightly better specifications.

Today, a leak of these SKUs appeared with them being tested on the SiSoftware platform, confirming the SKU name and some of its specifications.

The person who found the information was X user @momomo_us, who found the page on SiSoftware Ranker, explicitly listing the model with the name “Ryzen AI 9 HX 470”, which is an update to the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 from the Strix Point family.

The new processor has the same Zen 5 architecture, but with slightly higher core clocks, reaching 5.25 GHz in boost, against 5.1 GHz of the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. The base clock of the Zen 5 cores remains unchanged, with the same 2.0 GHz.

The main configuration will be 12 cores/24 threads and will feature the same Radeon 890M iGPU based on the RDNA 3.5 architecture. It is not clear what the maximum frequency of the Radeon 890M will be in this configuration, but some change in this aspect is expected.

The results were done with a sample installed on a 14-inch HP Elitebook X G2a notebook, as can be seen in the entries, and the current lineup offers the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 configuration.

Launch soon

With the official launch of the Gorgon Point soon, the lineup is expected to be updated with newer APUs offering slightly better performance right out of the box. An apparent new feature in the specs is the L3 cache, which will apparently be 3x 16 MB in the latest configuration.

AMD has not confirmed these specifications, which means caution is needed.

The Ryzen AI 400 Gorgon Point series will have successors to the current Krackan Point chips and will be categorized under the “Gorgon Point” name rather than two different families. The models will be available in configurations starting from 4 cores/8 threads, further expanding the product line.

Another concern for users is the price. Obviously they will not reach the R$42,885.53 price tag for a Threadripper, but it is still possible for them to reach the R$5,905.61 price range for a Ryzen 9 9950X3D or R$4,643.08 Ryzen 9 7900.
