A AMD is officially adding the features AFMF (Fluid Motion Frames) 2 e Variable Graphics Memory to Ryzen AI 300 processors, which results in a significant increase in the rate frames per second (FPS).

AMD’s Variable Graphics Memory (VGM) allows games with higher VRAM requirements to be run on iGPUs, while AFMF 2 improves FPS.

After criticism, AMD promises to improve Ryzen 9000 performance on Windows 11

Launched in July, the Ryzen AI 300 APUs are gradually arriving in the retail market through OEM partners. Equipped with the RDNA 3.5 architecture, they offer improved performance compared to the previous RDNA 3 versions. Since their launch, they have received two driver updates: 24.7.1, which is the initial driver, and the more recent 24.8.1, which brought new game support, Anti-Lag 2, HYPR-Tune and AI improvements.

Details about AFMF 2 technology

On Wednesday (11), AMD is launching a new software: an Adrenalin preview driver for Ryzen AI 300 APUs. With it, it is possible to take advantage of two technologies: AFMF 2, which generates advanced frames to increase FPS rates and improve gameplay. Players can see up to 78% mais FPS no Cyberpunk 2077 using AFMF 2 with an AMD Ryzen™ AI 9 HX 370. Variable Graphics Memory will also be supported, optimizing performance on Ryzen AI 300 processors.

Fluid Motion Frames 2 was introduced in late July for RDNA 2, 3, and 3.5 dGPUs and iGPUs. It is part of the HYPR-RX suite, now available on Ryzen AI 300 devices, and can be enabled via the Gaming tab in the AMD Adrenalin app. Enabling AFMF 2 also enables Anti-Lag, ensuring a fluid gaming experience. Radeon Super Resolution is also available for Ryzen AI 300 users.

For example, AMD demonstrated Cyberpunk 2077 running at up to 100 FPS at 1080p with the Balanced FSR preset and AFMF 2 enabled, a 78% gain in FPS.

Details about VGM technology

Also new for the Ryzen AI 300 APUs is support for VGM, allowing you to allocate dedicated memory for integrated graphics beyond the standard 512MB.

This is not to be confused with “Shared” graphics memory. The amount of memory can be adjusted in the Performance tab of the Adrenalin app, with options of Low, Medium, and High. For example, on a Ryzen AI 300 PC with 32GB of system memory, “Medium” mode will allocate 8GB to the iGPU.

With more memory for the integrated GPU, Ryzen AI 300 PCs can perform better and run games with higher VRAM requirements, such as Guardians of The Galaxy, which requires at least 3GB of VRAM.

These are two promising features for processors AMD Ryzen AI 300 and Radeon 800M iGPUs are now available for user testing.
