AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D could arrive in late October, rumor says

AMD is set to launch the Ryzen 7 9800X3D in late October, bringing its first Zen 5 desktop CPU with 3D V-Cache as early as next month. That’s according to current rumors, which also claim that the company has accelerated its roadmap due to the lack of success of the Ryzen 9000 series of processors.

The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is expected to be the successor to the famous 7800X3D, which remains a great alternative for gaming performance. The processor outperforms even the latest 9900X, so AMD would be interested in having a new Zen 5 alternative with the popular technology soon.

The Ryzen 90003XD series was initially expected to receive its first components in the first quarter of 2025, but AMD is said to have accelerated the launch of the first product this year. Therefore, if the rumor is true, the Ryzen 9950X3D and 9900X3D should still be released next year.

One of the “leakers” on the subject also comments that these more advanced options of Zen 5 CPUs with 3D V-Cache will bring “new features”, but does not explain what they are. TechPowerUp speculates that it should be the implementation of this type of memory in the two CCDs (chiplets) of the components.

The launch of the first Zen 5 processor with 3XD in its name could impact the arrival of cheaper products with cores from previous generations. It wasn’t long ago that AMD introduced the Ryzen 5 7600X3D.

The gaming-grade Zen 4 option was launched exclusively at one of the US stores, but earlier this month the component also went on sale in Germany.
