Although we already have rumors about the Ryzen 9000X3D, AMD has not yet officially revealed this series, but has already given indications that it will exist at some point. For now, officially, the company only revealed that the Ryzen 7 9700X delivers up to 30% more performance compared to the Ryzen 7 5800X3D.

In a single slide released during the Ryzen 9000 and Ryzen AI 300 presentation, AMD shows benchmarks made in 16 games comparing the two processors. Although the new Ryzen falls between 6-7% behind the first model with 3D V-Cache technology in two games, tying in another, it outperforms the Zen 3 CPU in the rest.

AMD highlights that this advantage of the Ryzen 7 9700X occurs even with the processor operating at a 40W lower TDP (65W). In this comparison, the implementation of 3D V-Cache technology in the Ryzen 7 5800X3D was not enough to outperform the new CPU, due to the large difference between the Zen 3 and Zen 5 architectures.

Ryzen 9000 does not beat Ryzen 7000X3D

The Lisa Su-led company did not disclose how the Ryzen 9000 and Ryzen 7000X3D would compare. But an AMD representative previously said that the new Zen 5-based series, while offering 16% higher IPC over Zen 4, would not outperform the X3D SKUs in gaming.

“Is it the fastest in games? It’s faster than the competition in our tests. The X3D is still king of the hill, but by a much smaller margin than is typically found between X3D and non-X3D. So a 7800X3D would indeed be faster than the 9700X, but perhaps not by as much as you’d expect.“, explained AMD’s head of CPU marketing, Donny Woligroski.

The executive also said that they were working on implementing 3D V-Cache technology in the Ryzen 9000. Woligroski stated that it will not be a simple reuse of the technology in the new generation, but made it clear that the Ryzen 9000X3D will use an improved version of the cache stacking technology.

A rumor from the beginning of the month also says that the Ryzen 9000X3D will have full overcock support, an issue that was quite limited in the first generation (Ryzen 5000X3D) and more mitigated with the Ryzen 7000X3D.

The Ryzen 9000 arrives on July 31, but there is no expectation about the launch of SKUs with 3D V-Cache technology at the moment.
