The new addition to AMD’s 3D V-Cache CPU lineup is exclusive to a single US retailer. The Ryzen 5 7600X3D costs $299 there, but delivers performance close to the Ryzen 9 7950X3D in games. We are talking about a difference of 5 FPS on average and between 150 and 200 dollars.
The tests are from the PC Games Hardware website, which had access to AMD’s new mid-range CPU and highlights its efficiency. This is because the model has a TDP of 65W, that is, the lowest consumption among all SKUs equipped with AMD’s cache memory stacking technology.
In games, the Ryzen 5 7600X3D even outperforms the Ryzen 9 7900X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X, albeit by a small margin. In the site’s tests, AMD’s CPU is close to the Intel Core i5-13600K and 14600K. This shows us that the 6 cores and 12 threads, in addition to 102 MB of cache are enough for great performance in games.
The same level of performance cannot be said when it comes to productivity applications and other synthetic benchmarks. AMD’s new CPU lags behind several other AMD and Intel CPUs from previous generations, mainly due to the number of cores it has and the fact that 3D V-Cache memory does not make much of a difference in these scenarios.
Ryzen 5 7600X3D and its cost-benefit in games
But where the Ryzen 5 7600X3D really shines is in its consumption, becoming the king in this aspect among the dozens of processors tested by PC Games Hardware. With 48W of average consumption in games, tying with the Ryzen 5 7500F, it delivers the best FPS per watt ratio, coming in at the top and ahead of the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, considered the king of games.
Combined with its price abroad, these features make the new CPU one of the best value for money in gaming today – since it doesn’t shine in other applications – and an excellent upgrade option for those who want to migrate from the AM4 to AM5 platform.
But, it’s worth remembering that the CPU is only available in one US store. North Americans who want to build a PC from scratch still have the option of a bundle with the Ryzen 5 7600X3D, ASUS TUF Gaming B650-Plus WiFi motherboard and 2x 16 GB DDR5-6000 for US$ 450, which is close to R$ 2,500, even cheaper than buying it piece by piece here in Brazil, if it were possible.
