AMD RX 9070 XT Overcomes RTX 5070 IT with 9% more performance in 1440p after driver updates

Tests also included GeForce RTX 5070 IT to help determine whether performance gains come from AMD drivers or general gaming patches. In some titles, Both signs presented gainssuggesting that not all improvements were due only to Radeon drivers.

However, the channel observed significant performance increases in the 9070 XT in specific games. I.e, The optimization of drivers played a substantial role in improving plate performance.

And of course the GeForce plate also presented improvementssometimes even overcoming Radeon.

Finally, as much as the tests can suggest which gain derives from drives and which derives from games updates, one cannot rule out that there is an overlap. I.e, In the future, the results may be different.

Preliminary Results

The 16 games were tested with 1440p resolution. And the 9070 XT showed an average performance increase of 9% compared to only 2.5% of the 5070 IT. As a result, the Radeon plate went from a 2.5% disadvantage to a 3% advantage overall in 1440p.

In tests with 4K, the gains were much less expressive, with Both GPUs showing improvements in the unique digits and delivering almost identical performance.

The most significant performance changes for the 9070 XT have occurred at lower resolutions, where initial RDNA4 drivers may have been less optimized.

Despite gain in performance, the actual value depends a lot on the price.

In kabum, RTX 5070 TI plates vary from R$ 6.499 (Inno3D RTX 5070 Ti X3 16GB) a R$ 8.888 (Gigabyte RTX 5070 Ti Windforce SFF 16g). The plates 9070 XT vary from R$ 5.999 (XFX Swift WHITE TRIPLE FAN GAMING EDITION 16GB) a R$ 6.999 (XFX Mercury OC GAMING EDITION 16GB).

In short, AMD’s most expensive plate costs almost the same price as Nvidia’s cheapest plate. It is noteworthy that the amounts presented did not consider discounts and therefore players can find offers at more affordable prices.

In the US and Australia, the 9070 XT is significantly cheaper than 5070 Ti, with the latter often costing 30% more. And this price difference makes GPU Radeon a much more attractive option at the moment.

If you continue this way, it is possible that the original AMD strategy of aggressiveness in prices will be able to recover a portion of the GPUS market for the red team.

Specific gains

Several titles, such as Spider-Man Remastered, Hogwarts Legacy and Counter-Strike 2, have had major improvements for 9070 XT, with gains of up to 27% in some cases. These increases often allow the Radeon GPU to equal or exceed 5070 IT, reversing the results observed in the original analyzes.

The result was not a massacre, with the Nvidia plate with small regressions or marginal gains. In the case of Space Marine 2, an anterior bug correction resulted in a huge 36%performance increase.

Still, in several other titles, such as Starfield and Dragon Age: The Valgard, none of the GPUS has presented significant changes.
