AMD reveals that sales relationship between AM4 and AM5 is almost 50/50

AMD AM4 platform continues to occupy an important share of the company’s world sales, more than eight years after its launch. According to David McAfee, leader of the company’s business channel, currently sales of AMD processors are divided halfway between AM4 and AM5.

“On a global scale, the division between AM4 and AM5 is not far from 50/50,” McAfee said in an interview with TechPowerup. “Different markets have different preferences. North America and Western Europe are hung for more advanced builds AM5. ”

The AM4 platform was originally introduced in September 2016, which means it will turn 9 in 2025. The latest generation, meanwhile, approaches the three years. While more market time often means more time for a product to settle, in the case of hardware, advanced age can end support, decreased product supply and other factors that would hinder the sale of AM4.

AMD, however, bet on the longevity of its chipsets as a differential from its rival, Intel. Thus, even in July last year new AM4 processors appeared.

In his interview, McAfee also answered several questions about 3D V-Cache memory processors, which AMD commercially calls X3D. Techpowerup people asked the executive directly for the appeal to come out so expensive.
