AMD today announced pricing for its most powerful RDNA 4-based workstation GPU, the Radeon AI Pro R9700. It will hit stores from October 27th and will officially cost US$1,299 (R$6,979.66). An ASRock Creator model has already been found listed for US$1,329 (7,140.85) in a physical store.
On the website, the company lists a series of places to purchase, but there is no direct purchase option.

The GPU was revealed at this year’s Computex, about five months ago. There is also a model available on the Gigabyte website, but the company did not disclose the price.
The Radeon AI Pro R9700 will only be available through AMD card partners, as AMD will not sell the Founders model. And some card partners may sell the card only integrated into systems.

Specifications

The Radeon AI Pro R9700 features the NAVI 48 chip based on the RDNA 4 architecture and is technically the same GPU used in the flagship Radeon RX 9070 XT for gaming. In other words, it features 4,096 stream processors, 128 ROPs and the same number of RT cores.
The main difference is the VRAM capacity, as the Radeon AI Pro R9700 doubles memory capacity compared to the RX 9070 XT.
Because the R9700 is a workstation card, it is designed for AI-intensive workloads. That’s why, the largest memory capacity is implemented on the board with the introduction of more memory modules.
This means that the card features 32GB of GDDR6 VRAM via a 256-bit memory busmaking it the cheapest 32GB GPU for workstations.
Performance

AMD claims it is twice as fast as the W7800 in DeepSeek R1 and can handle text-to-image AI workloads and LLMs with ease. AMD has boasted about the advantage of its 32GB VRAM over high-end GPUs like the GeForce RTX 5080, which only comes with 16GB of VRAM.
The Radeon AI Pro R9700 also features multi-GPU scalability via AMD ROCmenabling high-throughput AI workloads on local workstations.
Compact, the card only has a dual-slot design and features a blower-style cooler for efficient airflow. In this way, she is Ideal for multi-GPU configurations for expanded memory capacity.
As always, it is recommended to wait for independent benchmarking to confirm the performance gain. Furthermore, it is also important to evaluate the other components used in the tests.
Final Price
Unfortunately, it is known that the final prices after conversion and import are never pleasant. However, perhaps the same thing will not happen here as with the RX 9060 XT which, even abroad, was sold above the MSRP by a significant margin.
Now, with the Radeon AI Pro R9700 costing more than 4x the MSRP of the RX 9060 XT, it’s wise to prepare for a high cost. In comparison with the MSRP of the RX 9070 XT, things are “calmer” because the base board is more expensive and the difference is “only” double.
So, if the card costs twice the price of the RX 9070 XT available on the market, it could cost something like R$10,000. This, considering the price of the XFX Swift of R$5,299.99 (also available in the white model) and the ASRock of R$5,199.99.
It will be worrying if the card costs twice the price of Gigabyte’s RX 9070 XT, which is priced at R$10,800.00.
